Hospice Volunteers – a Special Kind of Caring

Hospice goes beyond traditional healthcare.  It's providing solutions for difficult times,
being close in a time of fear, a friend with time to share, laughter in the midst of tears,
it's dignity, it's humanity, it's what we do.  It must be love.

Hospice Volunteer Training is held in the Spring & Fall.
Schedules are posted as they become available.

Please call Lori Wright at 527-7531, ext. 121 for more information.

We offer a nine-week training course which includes an introduction to the hospice philosophy; discussions of death, dying, and grief; communication skills training; stress management skills; and an overview of diseases and conditions.

Training is provided by skilled professionals in a format compatible with a busy schedule.
Whether or not you decide to volunteer for Hospice, the topics covered are useful in the
challenging situations we all encounter.

The classes include:

                  Personal Death Awareness
                  Family Dynamics
                  Physical Care of the Dying
                  Philosophy & Background of Hospice
                  Grief & Bereavement
                  Communication Skills
                  Good Body Mechanics
                  Funeral Arrangements
                  Child Grief
                  Advance Directives...and much more!
