Franklin County Home Health Agency Celebrates 9th Blue Jean Ball; Ben & Jerry’s St. Albans Community Action Team Receives Oren J. Lane Community Service Award

Franklin County Home Health Agency celebrated its 9th annual Blue Jean Ball at the American Legion in St. Albans on Saturday, October 21, 2017, raising over $55,000. More than 200 guests attended the Country Western themed fundraiser to benefit Franklin County Home Health.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Oren J. Lane Community Service Award. Ben & Jerry’s Saint Albans Community Action Team was the 2017 award recipient, recognized for their support of the Franklin County Home Health Agency and the community as a whole. The award, named in honor of Oren J. Lane recognizes an individual or an organization in our community who exemplifies the spirit of Home Health – someone who has gone above and beyond to serve others, to give gifts from the heart, and to whom the community is more than just a place to live and work. Oren not only touched the family of the Franklin County Home Health Agency, but countless others in our community through his work in Hospice, his church, his love for music, photography and his family.

For many years, the Ben and Jerry’s Foundation has provided funding to the local Community Action Team to allow Ben and Jerry’s employees to support organizations in the communities where they live and work.  Funding and community service is provided to a variety of local and community based Vermont nonprofit programs and community celebrations. “Whether it has been lending a helping hand to help with a service project, supplying ice cream for a staff celebration, or sending a check to support a project, the Saint Albans Community Action Team has been key to our success from its very beginning,” said Janet McCarthy, Executive Director of Franklin County Home Health Agency.

Other event highlights include: silent auction featuring nearly 200 donated items from community members, a live auction featuring Mark Waterhouse and Charlie Barsalow, a square dancing demonstration by the Maple Squares, music provided by D.J. Bobby Cee, food catered by Santini Catering, a wild west photo booth provided by the Agency, and the Quilt Raffle drawing sponsored by Union Bank.
