Health Presents 17th annual
Community Service Award
For the past 17 years,
Franklin County Home Health Agency (FCHHA) has presented a community service
award to an individual or an organization in the community who has gone above
and beyond to serve others, to give gifts from the heart, and to whom the
community is more than just a place to live and work.
At the Agency’s 37th
annual meeting in September, FCHHA presented the 17th annual
Franklin County Home Health Community Service Award to Emerson Lynn, owner and
publisher of the Saint Albans Messenger. Emerson’s wife, Suzanne, accepted
the award on behalf of her husband.
Janet
McCarthy, Executive Director at FCHHA remarked, “I’ve heard Emerson describe
himself as just a small town newspaper boy, but in our opinion, he is much
more than that. He helps to make our community a better place. Emerson knows
that Franklin County is a special place. Emerson is not afraid to call our
community to action whether it is to accept personal responsibility to improve
our health or become involved in a special project.”
Over the
last several years, Emerson Lynn has been involved in organizing and
facilitating many activities including legislative forums, the LEAD program
with the collaboration of the United Way, Saint Albans for the Future, and
bringing the OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute to our area.
Janet
continued, “He has the talent to bring people together to initiate change and
then quietly step into the background to watch it happen. I suspect that
Emerson could have made different choices in his life. He could have been a
big town newspaperman but in our opinion, our community is a better place
because Emerson has gone above and beyond to serve others.”
